Medieval/Renaissance style Portative Organ two chromatic octaves.

Fantastic Portative table top two octave Medieval/Renaissance style pipe organ. Made by Skrabl organs, the case is oak, the keys are fruitwood and the pipes are alloy. Air is produced by hand bellows with a small reservoir, generally this would be played with the right hand on the keys and the left hand operating the bellows. The amount of air used depends on the number of notes played simultaneously - the more notes the more vigorous activation of the bellows. The instrument is capable of playing single line melodies or can play chords.

These instruments were popular in Medieval and Renaissance Europe and can be seen in art and iconography of the period. The pitch of this organ is currently a@430 as this is the pitch of the largest pipe, the other pipes are tuned using goatskin sleeves which are supported in place by Tudor rose pins, with this method no special tuning cones are required nor cutting of the pipes as with traditional tuning methods.

Also included is a custom solid oak table to support the organ. A dust case was custom made and decorated in suitable style. This is fixed in place by brass bolts. Glorious looking and sounding instrument and a one off - will appeal to early music enthusiasts, keyboard players or for anyone looking for that unusual and rare instrument. The dust cover can be left in place while playing.

The weight of the whole package is over 30Kg.

Obviously collection in person only I'm afraid. You can organise your own courier service, but this would require a door to door service not a commercial service (Evri, Parcelforce, DHL etc) and the buyer would have to confirm successful collection prior to the goods being removed by the courier. Responsibility passes to the courier as soon as the buyer confirms collection.
