The Tascam DR-05XP is a compact 2-channel handheld audio recorder built around fixed AB-position omnidirectional electret condenser stereo microphones. Its headline feature is 32-bit float recording — which removes the need to set input levels manually — alongside standard WAV recording up to 96 kHz at 16 or 24-bit, and MP3 up to 320 kbps. A 3.5mm stereo mini-jack handles both mic/line input (with plug-in power support) and headphone/line output, while the USB-C port doubles as a 2-channel audio interface for direct computer recording. Storage is via microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC cards up to 512 GB, and power comes from 2x AA batteries, USB bus power, or an optional AC adapter.
