The E-MU E64 is a rack-mount audio sampler built on E-MU's Ultra hardware architecture, delivering 64-voice polyphony and 20-bit processing through analog converters known for their warm, driven character. It runs the EOS (E-mu Operating System) and offers a practical I/O complement of two TRS analog inputs, eight TRS analog outputs (expandable to 16), and two AES/EBU digital I/O via XLR. A built-in sequencer supports breakbeat construction, while multiple audio outputs can be assigned per preset — making it well suited to drum kit and sample layering workflows. Sample editing tools include zoom, EQ, and compression, and the unit can import banks from ESI, Akai, and Kurzweil formats, broadening its compatibility with existing sample libraries.
