About This Model

The Denon AVR-3803 is a seven-channel A/V receiver built around a fully discrete amplifier section delivering 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms across all channels — front, center, surround, and surround back. Decoding covers Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 and Matrix 6.1, DTS NEO:6, DTS 96/24, and Dolby Pro Logic II, handled by an Analog Devices Melody 100 DSP. Audio conversion runs at 24-bit/192kHz on all channels using Burr-Brown PCM-1791 DACs for both D/A and A/D stages. Video connectivity includes two sets of component video inputs with up-conversion from composite and S-Video sources, while audio connections span coaxial and optical digital inputs alongside an MM phono stage for turntable use. A Pure Direct mode with AL24 processing bypasses unnecessary circuitry for two-channel listening, and the surround back channels can be reassigned as a Zone 2 output for multi-room use. Serial control via AMX/Crestron-compatible port makes it equally at home in a custom installation as in a dedicated home theatre.
