About This Model

The Ashdown Rootmaster RM-500-EVO is a 500-watt bass amplifier head delivering serious power in a remarkably lightweight package of around 5.7 lbs. It features a 5-band EQ with fixed lo-mid (240Hz) and hi-mid (1.5kHz) points, plus onboard compression, a sub-harmonic generator for adding deep sub-octave weight, and a valve-emulated overdrive circuit for tonal grit when needed. Inputs cover both passive and active instruments as well as a line input, while outputs include two Neutrik Speakon/jack speaker sockets, a balanced DI, a tuner output, and a headphone output for silent practice. Ashdown's signature VU meter — which shifts from orange to blue when the mute is engaged — rounds out a feature set that makes this head equally at home on stage and in the studio.
