A vintage Neve 1766 extensively reworked by Neve specialist Blake Devitt. The original line input has been converted to a low-impedance mic input by reversing the Marinair input transformer, with gain boosted to cover +20dB to +56dB — more than enough for any source. Internal grounding has been reworked throughout for a lower noise floor. Each channel combines circuitry from three classic Neve designs: B226-derived input staging (as found in EMI/Neve consoles), a B208 output amplifier (Neve 8048), and the Marinair LO2567 output transformer — the same unit that defines the sound of the Neve 1081. Channel separation is a strong 70dB at unity, and EIN sits around -120dBu — impressive for a dual two-stage unit. The volume control sits pre-amplifier, so hot sources are easily managed by backing off the knob. Made entirely from all original Neve metalwork and parts. A serious piece of modified Neve iron for those who know what they’re after.
