50’s wiring is often considered the best option for a Les Paul–style guitar because it preserves clarity and dynamics as you roll the volume down. In this wiring scheme, the tone control is connected to the output of the volume pot rather than the input, which means high frequencies are retained instead of being bled off.

As a result, the guitar stays brighter and more articulate at lower volume settings, with less muddiness and more usable sweep on the controls. This makes it especially effective for players who rely on the volume knob for cleanup and expressive control—one of the reasons it became a hallmark of vintage Gibson Les Paul tones.

The Centralab Bumblebee 0.022µF Oil Capacitor is a vintage-style guitar tone capacitor designed to replicate the classic “Bumblebee” components found in 1950s electric guitars. It uses an oil-filled, non-inductive mylar construction, which helps deliver a smooth, gradual roll-off of high frequencies when adjusting the tone control. 

With a capacitance of 0.022µF (22nF)—a common value for humbucker-equipped guitars—it strikes a balance between warmth and clarity, preventing the tone from becoming overly dark while still allowing rich, vintage-style treble reduction.
