This 2004 Gibson Les Paul Standard Premium Plus in Light Burst is a strong example from a period when Gibson were producing particularly attractive figured-top Standards. The Premium Plus designation refers to the use of a highly figured AAA-grade maple top, selected for its pronounced flame figuring and visual depth. On this example the figuring shows clearly through the Light Burst finish, giving the guitar plenty of visual presence while retaining the classic Les Paul aesthetic.
Construction follows the traditional Les Paul formula, with a solid mahogany body and carved maple top, paired with a set mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. This guitar features the desirable 50s Rounded neck profile, offering a slightly fuller feel that many players favour for its substantial grip and comfortable playing experience. The fingerboard carries 22 frets, pearl trapezoid inlays, and a 24.75" scale length, with the familiar Les Paul nut width and bound fingerboard completing the classic specification.
Electronics consist of a pair of Gibson Burstbucker Pro humbuckers with Alnico V magnets, delivering the balanced output, warmth, and sustain associated with modern Les Paul Standards while retaining a clear vintage character. Controls follow the traditional two volume, two tone, and three-way selector layout, providing a broad range of tones from thick bridge pickup drive to the warmer, rounder character of the neck position.
Hardware is finished in nickel, including the classic Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, with vintage-style tuners completing the familiar Gibson look.
The guitar presents very well for its age with typical light signs of use, while retaining its strong original appearance and playability. There are the typical surface scratches and minor dings, alongside the usual small cracks on the jack plate.
Supplied with its original Gibson hard case and accompanying paperwork, this is a complete example of an early-2000s Les Paul Standard Premium Plus, combining a highly figured AAA maple top, the comfortable 50s neck profile, and the dependable specification that has made the model a long-standing favourite among players.
