Up for sale is an original Max Hoyer double bass, handcrafted in Wehen im Taunus, Western Germany, in the late 1940s. This rare semi-carved cutaway model is a beautiful example of post-war German workshop craftsmanship.
The Hoyer family workshop in the Taunusstein region is well documented. Max Hoyer born in 1883 in Markneukirchen & relocated to Wehen after WWII, where he and later his son Kurt built high-quality double basses. Instruments from this era are known for their balanced tone, solid projection, and meticulous handwork.
