Originally developed in Seymour Duncan's Custom Shop for Hamer Guitars, the Phat Cat is a true single-coil P-90 Soapbar that fits under a humbucker cover and drops into humbucker-equipped guitars. You get all of the authentic neck position bounce and sparkle that you'd expect from a vintage Gibson P90 Soapbar. Chords have lots of rich harmonics, and solos have that unique single coil springiness.

It uses two Alnico 2 bar magnets for more sustain and softer attack, and, the metal covers provide more shielding and noise reduction than standard soapbar covers. This neck model is RWRP, reverse wind reverse polarity, from the bridge pickup to provide noiseless operation when Very Good together. Combine with a humbucker in the bridge position for greater tonal variety.

Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, the Phat Cat uses dual alnico 2 bar magnets, custom nickel or gold cover, nickel silver bottom plate, and single-conductor braided hookup wire. Vacuum wax potted for squeal free operation.
