This official Fender American Vintage 62 Jaguar Mute Kit includes the chrome plate with the 'Fender Mute' and Pat. Pend. stamp and all associated mounting hardware. The spring loaded plunger sits in a hole in the body between the bridge posts and the centre bolt on the mute plate pushes against the plunger, when the end tab of the mute plate is rocked back the bolt hits the front edge of the hole and the mute is engaged, when the end tab is rocked forward the bolt hits the back edge of the hole and the mute drops down to disengage, the hole in the body for the plunger (and mounting screws) will likely not be present on non vintage style Jaguar guitars and will need to be drilled to install the mute kit (the depth of the hole is important to ensure the correct spring tension against the bolt).
