JLM Audio Freq500 Active EQ

Really quite powerful and pure sounding 5-band EQ. This is a brand new build that is fully tested; sounds amazing!

Lovely quality push-pull pots all round (real satisfying clicks!). For the mids, pull the left pot for a more narrow ‘Q’ and for the shelfs, pull or push for a different slope (12db vs. 6db per octave). Finally a high-pass filter which is between 20-200hz.

Push-pull the gain pots to boost vs. cut. You can very easily without taking it apart, change each individual band to boost/cut only 6db instead of 12db. This gives you a smaller range round the travel of the pot which is perfect if you feel you might be doing a lot of smaller moves.

There’s so much crammed in this little box and I’ve not seen any (particularly single-slot) 500-series equalisers that can do as much. It might take some getting used to when you first plug it in at the beginning but after 5-10 minutes of playing it felt really good to use and it’s sonically transparent; useful on everything. Just a great all-rounder.
