Up for sale is my truly remarkable, time-capsule example of a 1997 Guild Starfire IV in its most iconic finish: Transparent Cherry Red.
This guitar was handcrafted at the legendary Westerly, Rhode Island factory during a highly celebrated era of Guild production. Finding a late-90s Westerly Starfire in this condition is incredibly rare—it is in absolute mint condition, and comes complete with its original Guild hardshell case (also in mint condition).
Condition Report:
- Body & Finish: Pristine. The transparent cherry finish is vibrant, with absolutely no finish checking, bucklerash, dents, or deep scratches. A couple of very minor hairline scratches you can barely see unless under bright lights.
- Neck & Frets: The neck is straight, the truss rod functions perfectly, and the frets show virtually zero play wear. The binding is completely intact with no discoloration or cracking.
- Hardware & Electronics: The hardware is in exceptional shape with none of the typical heavy pitting or tarnishing. Everything is 100% factory original and untouched.
Specifications:
- Origin: Westerly, Rhode Island, USA (Serial number on the back of the headstock and internal oval label).
- Pickups: Factory-original Seymour Duncan-designed SD-1 humbuckers. These are highly prized, period-correct pickups that offer incredible clarity, warmth, and classic vintage Guild bite.
- Controls: 2 Volume, 2 Tone, 3-way toggle switch. All pots are clean and noise-free.
- Case: Original '90s Guild hardcase with a flawless plush interior, working latches, and structural integrity.
- Comes with original warranty card, unused case key, truss rod tool and Allen key for bridge intonation.
This is a rare opportunity to own a golden-era, American-made semi-hollow body that looks and plays exactly as it did when it left the Rhode Island factory nearly 30 years ago. Perfect for both serious players and discerning collectors.
