About this model

The Quad FM4 is a microprocessor-controlled FM stereo tuner covering the 88-108 MHz band, designed to complement the Quad 44 preamplifier. It features a digital frequency display alongside a bar graph indicating signal strength and centre tuning, and stores up to seven station presets in battery-backed memory. Sensitivity is rated at 2.7 µV for 50 dB quieting in mono and 25 µV in stereo, with a stereo signal-to-noise ratio of 70 dB and harmonic distortion of just 0.15%. Selectivity stands at 53 dB, and frequency response is quoted as 20 Hz-15 kHz (+0/-1 dB). The standard output is via a DIN socket, and the aerial input accepts a 75 Ω unbalanced coaxial connection. Note that aftermarket upgrades exist to replace the DIN output with phono/RCA sockets and to address potential battery leakage while expanding preset capacity to 14.
