About This Model

The Paiste 505 is a vintage intermediate-level cymbal series produced from 1978 to 1986 (with German factory production continuing until 1993). Crafted from B8 bronze - the same 8% tin, 92% copper alloy used in Paiste's acclaimed 2002 and Giant Beat series - the 505 line features medium hammering with increasing density toward the bell, and a dual-lathing treatment with evenly spaced coarse lathing. The result is a bright, loud, and focused sound character with that distinctive shimmery Paiste tone, delivering less sustain and complexity than the 2002 series but sitting comfortably above the entry-level 404 range. The series covered Rides, Crashes, and Hi-Hats across a range of sizes.
