The EarthQuaker Devices Aurelius is a versatile digital modulation pedal combining three distinct chorus voices, six programmable presets and assignable expression control in a compact format.
Inspired by the character of classic 1970s chorus units, Aurelius moves far beyond standard chorus with dedicated Vibrato, Chorus and Rotary modes.
From subtle shimmer and warm vintage modulation to pitch vibrato, flanger-style sweeps and Leslie-inspired rotary textures, Aurelius offers a huge range of sounds without relying on complicated menus.
Three Modulation ModesV – Vibrato
Mode V covers traditional chorus through to full pitch vibrato.
Use the Balance control to determine how much modulation is mixed with the dry signal. Turn Balance fully clockwise and the dry signal is removed for a true vibrato effect.
Ideal for:
-
Classic chorus
-
Subtle shimmer
-
Pitch vibrato
-
Lo-fi modulation
-
Warped textures
C – Chorus
Mode C delivers a warmer chorus voice with additional flanger-style behaviour.
As the Width control is increased, feedback is introduced, allowing the sound to move from smooth vintage-style chorus into more pronounced sweeping modulation.
R – Rotary
Mode R is inspired by rotating speaker cabinets, combining amplitude and frequency modulation for a Leslie-style effect.
Use Width and Balance to shape the character and intensity of the rotary movement.
Six Programmable PresetsAurelius provides six onboard preset locations.
Each preset can store:
-
Width
-
Rate
-
Balance
-
Selected Mode
-
Expression assignment
This makes it easy to switch between very different modulation sounds during a live set.
Expression ControlConnect a compatible TRS expression pedal and assign it to control:
-
Width
-
Rate
-
Balance
Expression assignments can be stored with individual presets, allowing real-time control of modulation depth, speed and blend.
Aurelius also supports compatible 0–3.3V CV control.
Simple ControlsWidth
Controls modulation depth and character.
Rate
Sets modulation speed.
Balance
Controls the relationship between the dry and processed signals.
The exact behaviour of these controls changes depending on the selected mode.
Flexi-Switch OperationAurelius uses EarthQuaker Devices' Flexi-Switch system.
This allows:
-
Standard latching operation
-
Momentary operation by holding the footswitch
Momentary operation is particularly useful for adding brief bursts of chorus, vibrato or rotary modulation.

The EarthQuaker Devices Aurelius covers a surprisingly wide range of modulation sounds while remaining straightforward to use.
Mode V handles chorus and pitch vibrato, Mode C moves from warm chorus into flanger-style modulation, while Mode R delivers Leslie-inspired rotary movement.
The addition of six presets and assignable expression control makes it especially useful for live players who need several different modulation sounds available without constantly adjusting controls.
For players looking for chorus, vibrato, flanger-style textures and rotary modulation in one compact pedal, Aurelius is an exceptionally flexible option.
