Vintage 1916 C.G. Conn New Wonder / New Wonder I Tenor Saxophone – Serial 36268
An early C.G. Conn tenor saxophone dating to approximately 1916.
The body is stamped:
T / 36268 / L
The T denotes tenor and the L denotes Low Pitch. The neck is also stamped 36268, matching the body serial number.
I sent a comprehensive set of detailed photographs to SAX London, who identified the instrument as a 1916 Conn New Wonder / New Wonder I tenor. They advised that the neck and finish appear to be original.
The saxophone has its aged silver-plated finish, engraved bell and gold-wash/gold-coloured bell interior. I have deliberately not polished, restored or altered it.
Condition
This is a circa 110-year-old saxophone and is being sold unserviced and untested.
There is natural tarnish, patina and age-related cosmetic wear, as shown clearly in the photographs.
SAX London advised that an instrument of this age is likely to require a service and advised that serviced examples can sell around £1,500.
Included: saxophone body, matching serial-numbered neck, vintage fitted hard case, mouthpiece, ligature/cap and the accessories shown in the photographs.
Additional detailed photographs or measurements are available for serious buyers.
London collection is welcomed and preferred. UK postage can also be arranged with appropriate protective packaging.
Reasonable offers considered.
