The Boss DR-660 Dr. Rhythm is a classic digital drum machine designed to provide a comprehensive selection of electronic drum and percussion sounds for musicians, songwriters and producers. Released as part of Boss's popular Dr. Rhythm range, the DR-660 offers a versatile collection of sounds and programmable rhythms, making it a useful tool for creating backing tracks, developing song ideas and adding programmed percussion to recordings.

The DR-660 features a wide range of built-in drum and percussion sounds, allowing users to create anything from straightforward acoustic-style drum patterns to more electronic and processed rhythms. Its sound palette makes it suitable for a variety of musical styles, while the ability to program your own patterns provides plenty of flexibility beyond the factory presets.

A selection of preset patterns is included for those who want to get started quickly, while users can create, edit and arrange their own rhythms using the onboard programming controls. Patterns can be combined to create complete song arrangements, making the DR-660 particularly useful for songwriting, practice and home recording.

The unit's hands-on control layout provides direct access to the rhythm programming functions, allowing patterns to be edited and customised without needing a computer. This makes it a particularly appealing piece of equipment for musicians who enjoy the tactile process of working with dedicated hardware rather than relying entirely on modern software-based drum production.

The Boss DR-660 can be incorporated into a wider setup alongside keyboards, guitars, basses, effects and recording equipment. Its programmable rhythms can provide a consistent backing track for practising, performing or developing new musical ideas, and its compact format makes it a practical addition to a studio or live setup.

With its distinctive late-era Boss digital character, extensive range of rhythm sounds and straightforward programming approach, the DR-660 remains an interesting choice for musicians looking for a classic hardware drum machine. It is also an appealing piece of vintage electronic music equipment for collectors and enthusiasts of Boss's Dr. Rhythm series.

This second-hand Boss DR-660 shows signs of previous use consistent with its age. There may be some cosmetic marks, scratches or other signs of wear, but these do not affect the functionality of the unit.
