1979 Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp (6V6 Version) – Studio-Ready, small gigs or home use Guitar Amp

Up for sale is a fantastic 1979 Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp, modified and upgraded into the ultimate low-wattage vintage guitar amplifier. I’m thinning the herd as other amps are getting more play, and this tone machine deserves to be used.

If you want a point-to-point, handwired 70s Fender tube amp that you can crank to its sweet spot at reasonable volumes, this is it. These amps are legendary secret weapons for guitarists—famously used by the likes of Dan Auerbach and Noel Gallagher.The Specs & Upgrades:

• The Circuit: Powered by the highly desirable dual 6V6 power tubes and a single 12AX7 preamp tube, pushing out roughly 12 watts.
• Harvard Tone Mod: The stock tone circuit on these is notoriously muddy for guitar. This has been professionally rewired to the iconic Tweed 5F10 Harvard specification, giving it incredible touch sensitivity and a beautiful, musical tone sweep.
• Harma Bright Sapphire Speaker (12", 50W): Replaced the weak factory speaker with a premium boutique Harma speaker. At 50W, it handles the amp's 12-watt output beautifully with tons of headroom, tight low end, and glorious vintage top-end chime.
• Upgraded Plywood Baffle: The original particle-board baffle was broken in transit when I first acquired the amp. I replaced it with a rock-solid, sturdy plywood baffle. While the internal installation cosmetic isn't factory-perfect, it is structurally indestructible and completely invisible from the outside—the amp looks totally classic from the front.

This is an original 110V US model, so you will need a standard step-down transformer to run it on UK mains power.
