The Details

The Mesa/Boogie Subway D-800+ is a professional lightweight bass amplifier head built in Petaluma, California. Combining an 800-watt Class D power amplifier with a comprehensive solid-state preamp, it offers considerable power and flexibility without the back-breaking dimensions traditionally associated with high-output bass amplification.

The front panel provides Active/Passive input selection, Play/Mute, Deep and Bright switches, input gain, variable high-pass filtering and Mesa's continuously variable Voicing control. A fully active 4-band EQ offers ±12dB adjustment, while sweepable Low Mid and High Mid frequency controls allow particularly accurate shaping of the bass within a full band mix.

Around the back are two Speakon speaker outputs, a switch for 8/4 or 2-ohm operation, balanced XLR DI with Pre/Post, Mic/Line and Ground Lift options, a buffered series effects loop, tuner output and external mute footswitch connection. Headphones and an auxiliary input are also provided.

Despite all that artillery, the D-800+ weighs only 6.3lb and measures approximately 13.25" wide, 10.15" deep and 2.625" high. This example also includes the pictured Mesa Engineering gig bag, making an already portable amplifier particularly convenient for rehearsals and gigs.
