Roland JV2080 in fantastic condition. I just fitted a new battery for the memory and internally it's totally spotless - looks as new. Externally, there is a little of the wear and tear you would expect with a unit of this age - a few scratches on the metal work, a bit of paint worn off the rotary encoder, but aside from these few cosmetic issues, everything is working perfectly and sounds amazing.

Some AI blurb about the unit:

"The Roland JV-2080 is a legendary 64-voice, 16-part multitimbral rack synthesizer module released by Roland in 1997. Serving as the direct successor to the highly popular JV-1080, it became an industry-standard "rompler" (sample-and-synthesis module) across 1990s and 2000s music production for pop, film scoring, and electronic music.

Core Specifications

  • Architecture: Sample + Synthesis (PCM waveforms paired with digital filters, LFOs, and envelopes).
  • Polyphony: 64 voices max.
  • Multitimbrality: 16 parts, allowing complex multi-instrument MIDI sequencing.
  • Internal Sounds: 768 non-rewritable factory preset patches, plus 128 user-rewritable memory slots.
  • Outputs: Six analog audio outputs (Main L/R, Direct 1 L/R, and Direct 2 L/R) for complex studio routing.

Key Upgrades Over the JV-1080

  • Larger LCD Display: Upgraded to a 320 x 80 dot graphic backlit display, making it much easier to edit patches and view menus.
  • Expanded Expansion Slots: Features 8 internal expansion bays (double the JV-1080's capacity), accepting the classic SR-JV80 series wave expansion boards. Fully expanded, it can access roughly 2,900 patches.
  • Enhanced Multi-Effects (EFX): Capable of running 3 independent multi-effects processors simultaneously in Performance Mode, alongside dedicated system Chorus and Reverb.
  • Patch Finder & Preview: Features a category search function to quickly group similar instruments (e.g., all brass or pads) and a "Phrase Preview" button to audit sounds contextually.

As it relies on older digital technology, the unit remains prized by electronic musicians (like techno producer Legowelt) for its warm, distinct digital character, lush pads, and massive library of vintage sounds.
