Up for grabs is this stunning Yamano ordered Gibson Custom Shop figured 1959 (R9) Burst Reissue from 2006. The top on this one is incredible and the fretboard....
It features an absolutely stunning figured burst top displaying some vibrant maple flame and mineral streaking from top to bottom. This would have been one of the last selected for export to Japan by Yamano, where all the best looking tops went during this period, especially some of the early Custom Shop historics like this one. Another very special feature of this one is that it has one of the most distinctive Madagascan rosewood fingerboards we have seen on a Custom Shop historic in a very long time. I think I'll just let the pictures do the taking here...
No issues at all, no breaks or repairs. Beautiful carve to the top and the weight is around avarage at 4.2kg. Lovely thick ’59 profile neck carve, slightly thicker than a standard '59 carve. It’s a superb playing Les Paul and has been played and not locked away, so has some light natural playwear, which is no bad thing at all; it has a naturally earned light worn look which looks lovely. There is plenty of life in the frets, the truss rod has been checked and working fine and the neck is dead straight. In nice condition all over with the aforementioned light playwear. It comes complete with its original tan Lifton historic hardshell case, which is in fine condition with all latches working fine. It also includes original Gibson Custom Shop certificate and the Japanese Yamano certificate amongst other case candy. Read up on the Yamanos if you are not aware on their history with Gibson… Yamano had a lot of say in what individual guitars their Japanese representatives were able to hand-select due to the volume they imported from the USA to Japan from the 90’s to the mid 2000’s (a period which also coincided with some of Gibson’s finest work). They had the pick of the bunch when it came to choosing the guitars they took back with them. This is one such guitar. You will not find another quite like this one!
