The Marantz CD6004 is a dedicated CD player built around the Cirrus Logic CS4398 multi-bit Delta-Sigma DAC, paired with Marantz's own HDAM-SA2 discrete output stage for precise, dynamic analogue conversion. It delivers gold-plated RCA analogue outputs alongside both coaxial and optical digital outputs, making it straightforward to integrate into a wide range of systems. A front-mounted USB port adds playback of MP3, WMA, AAC, and PCM files from thumb drives or Apple devices, while a front headphone jack with variable volume control allows direct listening. Measured performance is strong, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB, dynamic range of 100 dB, and THD of just 0.002%. The chassis uses a solid metal bottom plate with the disc mechanism centrally positioned to minimise vibration, and the analogue and digital power supplies run on separate rectifier circuits to keep noise floors low.
