Sound

The Mark I has a somewhat raw and straightforward character compared with later Blues Junior versions. It produces warm Fender-style cleans at lower volume and develops a gritty, compressed overdrive as the volume is increased.

Its EL84 power section gives it more of a British-leaning midrange and breakup than traditional Fender amps using 6V6 or 6L6 tubes. The result is particularly well suited to blues and classic rock.

The amp responds well to picking dynamics: play softly and it cleans up; dig in and it becomes thicker and more aggressive.
