genuine Gibson MHS II humbuckers, a matched rhythm/lead set.
Gibson’s own archived ES-335 specification lists exactly:
- MHS II Humbucker Rhythm = neck pickup
- MHS II Humbucker Lead = bridge pickup
MHS II stands for Memphis Historic Spec II. They were designed to resemble Gibson’s mid-1960s “Patent Number” humbuckers, rather than being straight late-’50s PAF copies. Reported Gibson specifications are balanced coils, 42-gauge poly-coated wire, short Alnico V magnets and no wax potting.
They're desirable because MHS II sets are not normally sold as regular aftermarket pickups.
