An Ampeg SVT from the MTI (Music Technology Inc.) era dates from the 1980s (roughly 1981 to 1987), meaning a unit labeled specifically as 1991 falls just outside this period or represents a transitional/later-circulating serial year. MTI was the US company that bought Ampeg and manufactured these heavy all-tube 300-watt bass heads using Japanese-made transformers and alternative tube layouts
