How to Sell on Reverb

Your guide to getting more for your gear.
Pricing

Price is the #1 indicator of how fast your gear will sell, so it’s important to choose the right asking price when you list it for sale.

You can decide how quickly you want to sell by how competitively you price. If your asking price is too high, you might miss out on interested buyers. By following a few easy steps, you can figure out the value of your gear and ensure that you maximize the amount of money you get for it.
Start by answering these questions:
1
What is the listing price of similar instruments for sale now?
2
How many others are listed?
3
What is the condition of my gear vs. others for sale?
PRO TIP

Do your research.
If you can’t find the item you want to sell, filter your search by “sold listings.”
Photos

Good pictures say a thousand words and help buyers answer their own questions about your listing and avoid misunderstandings.
Take more than one photo. You can attach up to 25 pictures to your listing, so it helps to take as many as you can from different angles. If you can, we also recommend including a video to show off how great your gear sounds.

Description

Describe your item as accurately as possible.
Every piece of gear that’s been used is unique and has its own story. A detailed description helps buyers make a more informed decision and understand exactly what will be delivered to their door. Make sure to talk about the condition, specifications, and any modifications you may have made to the equipment that could affect the value.
What Each Condition Means:
  • Mint items are in essentially new original condition but have been opened or played.
  • Excellent items are almost entirely free from blemishes and other visual defects and have been played or used with the utmost care.
  • Very Good items may show a few slight marks or scratches but are fully functional and in overall great shape.
  • Good Condition items function properly but may exhibit some wear and tear.
  • Fair Condition gear should function but will show noticeable cosmetic damage or other issues.
  • Poor Condition gear may not work properly but can still perform most functions.
  • Non Functioning items do not work as they should. All known issues should be described in the listing description.
Promotion

Take advantage of seller tools to help you promote your gear and make a faster sale.

  • Bump: If your gear is one of many similar items on the site, Bump can help your listing stand out from the crowd. Bumped listings get featured placement on Reverb’s best-performing pages, such as the homepage, comparison shopping pages, and handpicked collections.
  • Site-wide Sales: During these events, we direct traffic specifically to gear that’s on sale. That means more potential buyers seeing your gear.
  • Price Drops: Users who’ve added your gear to their watch list are 3x as likely to make a purchase over regular viewers of a listing.
PRO TIP
Avoid ending and relisting your item. This actually makes it harder to sell because you’re losing all the watchers and search algorithm data associated with your listing.
Customer Service

Treat online interactions as if you were talking face-to-face with potential customers.
You wouldn’t let a potential customer stand around in your house or shop waiting for hours—you would approach them, answer questions quickly, and be polite.
PRO TIP
Be kind. We’re proud of the friendly community of music makers we’ve built. Trust and respect should be at the core of all of your interactions on Reverb.
Shipping

Take care when shipping.

Improper packaging can leave you responsible if an item arrives damaged.

If you’re reusing a box, double-check that it’s still in good condition and that you’ve covered up the previous label. Old labels are one of the top reasons that packages go missing.
