About this listing
Authentic Univox Hi Flier, Phase 3 This is a 1970s Univox Hi Flier, Phase 3 (III) in black and white. Made in the Matsumoto Factory in Japan between 1974-1977. Serial Number 028322. Has original working humbucker pickups and comes with two whammy bars (one is a great looking and functioning replacement and the other I believe was the original but needs repair on the threads). Very cool tremolo system on these guitars. This is the highly sought after phase three that Kurt Cobain made famous in the 90s. All of their first album “Bleach” was written and recorded on this exact type of guitar. I just sent it into a guitar shop and gave it a full setup with a pro luthier. It plays great and all electronics work as they should. Intonation, action, and electronics were all gone through and this guitar sounds phenomenal. It is missing original knobs but the shop replaced with similarly styled knobs. Truss rod cover is missing and it has the usual scratches and chips that you’d find on a 50 year old guitar. Nothing crazy and the paint is still surprisingly good, especially on the face. I’ve had it since the late 80s and it’s one of two guitars I learned to play on! It is not in perfect condition cosmetically, but when they are these sell for anywhere between 2k-4K. I also have it listed locally on marketplace near nyc. Not in a rush to sell.
