Introduced in 1988 and responsible for shaping the sound of the late 80's and early 90's. The D-20 makes a great budget or alternative D-50. It's more closely related to the D-10 and D-110 synthesizers but adds an 8-voice sequencer with a rhythm track. The D-20 is a digital synth that employs linear arithmetic synthesis (LAS). It's a synthesis / editing method composed of tones, partials and timbres. Basically it all boils down to programming which, if you know what you are doing, can have interesting and unique results. Reverb effects and internal / external memory storage are also available on the D-20. Definitely worth a listen. This one is in great shape, tested and working properly. It has come from a studio environment and has been stored and cared for appropriately. The Roland D-20 (1988) is a 61-key vintage workstation featuring Linear Arithmetic (LA) synthesis, similar to a multi-timbral Roland MT-32 or a budget-friendly Roland D-50. It combines PCM samples for attacks with digital synth waveforms, often creating warm 80s/90s sounds. It features an 8-track sequencer, built-in drum machine, and a 3.5" floppy drive.Key Features and CharacteristicsSynthesis Engine: Uses 4-partial LA synthesis to create complex, often shimmering, or 80s-oriented sounds.Workstation Features: Includes a 9-part multi-timbral engine (8 tracks + 1 rhythm track) and a built-in 9-track sequencer.Drum Section: Features dedicated, high-quality, and often-praised digital rhythm samples.Storage: Built-in 3.5" disk drive for saving patches and sequences.Controls: 61 keys (velocity sensitive), though it lacks aftertouch.Overseas buyers contact us with your address for an accurate shipping quote.Items are packed properly and shipped within twenty four hours.
