The RCA 74-B Junior Velocity is a relatively small bi-directional ribbon microphone offered as a smaller, cost-effective alternative to the flagship 44-BX. Typically used for up-close speech and broadcasting, the 74-B's frequency response is a bit more limited at both ends of the range. They can, however, still be useful in studio recording applications like amplifier and horn recording where the microphone is placed very close to the source and the lack of low frequencies is made up with proximity effect.
