A serious custom shop dreadnought built for the player who wants Martin's biggest voice paired with rare, figured tonewoods. This D-14 pairs a VTS (torrefied) Adirondack red spruce top with Adirondack "Golden Era" scalloped bracing — the same recipe Martin uses to chase that vintage, pre-war D-28 growl, but with the top pre-aged through Vintage Tone System torrefaction so it opens up faster and louder than a green Adirondack top.Back and sides are flamed European maple, giving this guitar a tighter, more focused low end than mahogany or rosewood, with plenty of headroom for strumming and flatpicking without getting boomy — plus absolutely stunning curl and chatoyance under gloss.Appointments are all upgraded: African blackwood with sapwood on the fingerboard, bridge, and headplate add a striking, high-contrast look and extra stability. The modified V neck profile gives you a substantial, vintage-style grip without feeling like a baseball bat, and the 16" fingerboard radius makes bar chords and up-the-neck playing more comfortable than Martin's traditional flatter radii. Bone long saddle for maximum sustain and clean, accurate intonation. Standard 25.4" scale length.This is a rare custom shop configuration — Adirondack/flamed European maple dreadnoughts don't come up often on the used market — and this example presents in true excellent condition. Free of any handling marks or imperfections, with only light prior use — this guitar has been well cared for and it shows.
