Overview
Produced during the '60s and '70s, the Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-1A is considered a classic vintage effect along with its sibling the FZ-1 and the legendary Echoplex tape echo. The FZ-1A requires one 1.5-volt battery, whereas the FZ-1 needed two - however, the 1A is based on the same three germanium transistors as the FZ-1. The Fuzz-Tone evolved over its life, with a growing expanse of control options and newer casings. This vintage fuzz/distortion pedal was most notably used by Keith Richards and Pete Townshend, amongst other legendary guitarists.
