Comments:
The Gibson Hummingbird was first introduced in 1960 as the company's first square-shouldered dreadnought acoustic guitar, immediately setting itself apart from the rounder designs prevalent at the time. It was notable for its versatility, offering a wide range of sound from rich, deep chords to clear, crisp picking lines, making it popular across genres from folk to rock. This 2024 left-handed model maintains these classic features. It has a resonant square-shouldered body crafted from a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, a tonewood combination known for producing a balanced, warm, and full-bodied tone with excellent projection. The aesthetic appeal is a major selling point, highlighted by the intricate, engraved hummingbird-and-flower motif pickguard and a stunning, gloss nitrocellulose Sunburst finish which allows the wood to "breathe" and age naturally. The “DEMO" inscription engraved on the back of the headstock indicates the guitar was likely used for in-store displays, trade shows (like NAMM), or as a loaner to artists and representatives. The guitar displays close to no playing wear.
