The world of do-it-all delays just got a new contender.

In a shot across the bow to DSP mainstays like Strymon and Chase Bliss, Walrus Audio announced an ambitious new series dubbed Mako that seeks to offer pedals "just as ready for the road [as they are for] the studio."

The first entry in the Mako series, as you might have guessed, is a multi-function delay named the D1. Five modes (Digital Mod, Dual, Vintage, Reverse) are on deck with customizable options like modulation, tone, and age along with an Attack knob that alters a unique parameter in each algorithm. Tap tempo, MIDI control, and stereo ins/outs round out the D1's palette of functionality.

Hear the D1 in action in our video above, as Andy Martin explores some of its many sounds.

Pedal enthusiasts will note more than a passing resemblance to the layout conceived by Chase Bliss: whether or not the Mako series will be able to challenge their popularity is a question that can only be answered in time.

The D1 is available for pre-order now for $299 USD. Explore all used and new Walrus Audio pedals here.
