Video: Zivix Puc Wireless Midi Connection & Jamstik+ Smart Guitar

Continuing our coverage of the newest products to drop at NAMM, today we’re turning our attention to Zivix’s latest offerings: the PUC wireless MIDI interface and Jamstik+ Smart Guitar.

The PUC, as the name implies, is a puck-shaped MIDI connector that allows communication between a compatible MIDI controller and your preferred production software. Battery operated and easy to use, the PUC functions by simply plugging into the MIDI port on a controller and communicating with any Mac and iOS device via Zivix’s PUC app. Particularly useful for spread-out recording setups when a computer isn’t within easy reach, Justin also demonstrates that this is nifty for syncing up with phone apps.

In addition to the standard wifi, the PUC is also available in a Bluetooth version.

Delving into more playable hardware, Zivix is also unveiling its newest MIDI controller, the Jamstik+. While at first glance you might be reminded of a lopped-off Guitar Hero toy, the Jamstik+ is a powerful tool designed to allow players a whole new approach to interfacing with their favorite software.

The Jamstik+ features full MIDI capability, Bluetooth Smart connectivity, and real strings with real frets for an authentic feel. Built-in sensors and light scanning technology provide precise response on finger placement and pressure. This means that bends, hammer-ons, and pull-offs are all possible while noodling, except that you’re able to play piano, synth, or any other sound in your software’s library through the medium of a guitar.

In addition, the accompanying Jamstik+ app provides free and detailed lessons to get beginners up and running. Far more than just a guide to chords and scales, the app provides detailed feedback on finger placement and pressure, making it a great practice tool for newcomers and pros alike.
