Making its debut at NAMM 2024 today is the new Third Man Hardware Triple Threat. As with previous Third Man products, the Triple Threat is a collaborative effort—this time, with the affordably minded Donner brand.
The new Triple Threat is, as its name implies, a triad of effects packed into one slender switchboard. While all three effects can be used independently, the threat really comes into play when users engage all of them simultaneously.
The left-most footswitch on the unit engages the analog-voiced echo, capable of satisfying slapback, long and luscious repeats just shy of one second, and even self-oscillation.
The pedal's middle position packs a phaser that can nail classic swirl as well as it can warbly modulation and everything in between, shaped by its flexible depth control. Finally, the right-hand footswitch controls the high-gain-minded distortion that promises players both high-output, low-gain crunch up to singing sustain with a fat low-end.
What's even more appealing about this new multi-effect is its exceedingly affordable price tag of just $99 brand-new. The Triple Threat is available now at that price in its standard black enclosure.
