Video: Supro Drive, Supro Boost, & Supro Fuzz

The rerelease of Supro’s amps came with much buzz at Winter NAMM 2014, but Supro isn’t just making amps anymore; they have plans to dominate the boutique pedal game as well. The first three releases, the succinctly-named Supro Drive, Boost and Fuzz, prove that it is possible to fit the tone of the brand’s old-school amps into a pedal, but only if you’re Supro. Check out the videos below to hear the very first in Supro’s pedal line.

Step away from derivative overdrives and enter into a whole new world with the Supro Drive. This isn’t a clone, and it isn’t a copy — it’s a perfect recreation of the circuitry inside an actual Supro amp. All-analog build that even features the actual kind of output transformer found within a Supro amp, the Supro Drive is in a class all its own. With just volume, gain, and tone knobs, the Drive is just as versatile as it is intuitive and easy to understand. However, where the magic comes in is the Transformer switch, which changes up your tone from bold and fat to giving it singing, rich harmonics. Getting the sweet, creamy overdrive of a maxed-out Supro amp was never as easy as it is now with the Supro Drive.

Catch a lift with the Supro Boost, Supro’s first clean boost pedal. With a JFET base, the Boost was designed specifically to push the front end of a tube amp, but it doesn’t really matter what you plug into; you’ll get up to 20dB of clean boost no matter what you’re playing. This isn’t just any boost, however — not only are you given a huge amount of clean boost, but the ability to contour your sound as well. The volume knob is accompanied by a three-way toggle switch that allows you to affect your sound. Brighten it up, cast a darker vibe, or leave it flat with the included switchable high- and low-pass filters. As if that weren’t enough for a simple clean boost, the Supro Boost has an expression jack for on-the-fly tweaking of the volume control.

What’s not to love about the new Supro Fuzz? It combines the best of all worlds, bringing the best elements of the silver-box Big Muff, the Tone Bender MkII, and the germanium-outfitted Fuzz Face into one compact chassis. Utilizing UK-crafted NOS germanium transistors on its front end, the Supro Fuzz brings a modern combination of old favorites to the table. Though you can wring a myriad of tones out of the Fuzz, it’s incredibly intuitive to use, with controls for Volume and Gain as well as a two-band Treble/Bass EQ. And if you’re not satisfied with the versatile sound of the Fuzz, the flexible control is another huge plus: an added expression pedal jack gives you real-time control over your high frequencies, allowing you to tame them or boost them for a fuzz that fits your needs.
