Video: Inside Alissia's Spaceship Studio

Alissia is a seriously talented multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. Over the last few years, she has lent her skills and unique blend of funk, soul, and hip-hop to countless big name collaborators, from Mobb Deep, Anderson .Paak, and 21 Savage to Quincy Jones and Bootsy Collins.

We here at Reverb were eager take a look inside her studio and music-making haven—dubbed "The Spaceship"—to see what kinds of gear treasures awaited us. "I named it 'The Spaceship' because whenever an artist comes in, or musicians, we always vibe—go on a journey somewhere in another dimension. ... Hint hint, Parliament's Mothership [Connection] was definitely an inspiration."

Alissia went on to tell us about her recording process, admitting that though it changes from session to session based on the project she's working on, her inspiration always starts with spinning records. Of course, you also have to have your go-to gear.

A few of Alissia's main electronic instruments include a vintage Maestro Rhythm King (inspired by Sly Stone and his "funkbox"), a '60s Rhythm Ace, and a LinnDrum LM2.

Alissia owns several beautiful and funky bass guitars, including her go-to classic '82 Fender P-Bass. With a flair for customization, she also owns several customized basses from Sadowsky, Lakland, and even has a replica of Larry Graham's Moon Bass that she had commissioned.

Be sure to check out the video above to take the full tour of Alissia's studio, and keep your eyes and ears out for her debut artist project coming later this year.
