The Best-Selling Pro Audio Gear of 2018

Welcome to the final installment in our series on the best-selling gear of 2018. So far, we've looked at the most bought and sold synths, amps, and pedals on Reverb, and today, we're looking at recording and pro audio gear.

In the space below, you'll see the most frequently purchased microphones, audio interfaces, and 500 series modules on Reverb over the course of the year based on total number of sales. These numbers reflect both new and used sales in combination, but generally speaking, the rankings are quite similar when splitting the figures out for sales for just used or brand-new sales.

Did you get a piece of recording gear that inspired you in 2018? Let us know in the comments.

Best-Selling Microphones of 2018

As always, perennial favorites from Shure like the SM57 and SM58 rank at the top of the list, and generally speaking, mics with multiple studio applications like the RE20 tend to well. Of the mics on the list, the SM58 is the cheapest, with an average used sale price of $70 USD, while the Neumann TLM103 carries the highest average used price at $724.

Best-Selling Interfaces of 2018

For the interface rankings shown above, we've elected to combine various iterations of the same base model into one entry on the list. So for instance, the top-ranked Apollo Twin reflects the sum of the various versions of this design released by Universal Audio.

Overall, Focusrite's reign as the go-to option for affordable interfaces is going strong, claiming seven of the top slots. The Saffire Pro 40 was actually discontinued by Focusrite last year, but lingering dealer supplies combined with strong used sales have kept it in the top 10. The fact that this older model continues to sell so well is a good indication of how well regarded these workhorse interfaces remain.

Best-Selling 500 Series Modules of 2018

Rather than showcase all outboard gear, we're closing out this post with a look at the market for 500 series modules, which are occupying an increasingly large share of the general recording and pro audio gear market.
