St. Paul and the Broken Bones have opened a Reverb shop and are selling over fifty pieces of gear, including guitars, pedals, synths, trombones, and trumpets. The soulful group from Alabama breathed new life into the genre almost a decade ago with their modern take on the classic genre. After years of touring and recording, the group is ready to let some of their gear get into fans’ hands. Here's your chance to get a piece of their rig.
Among the gear in the shop is a guitarist, Browan Lollar’s 2005 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop with an original case. ”This is a very special guitar to me,” said Lollar. “I bought it in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in 2007. At the time, I had just started touring in Jason Isbell’s band, The 400 Unit, and needed something reliable. The Deluxe more than did the trick. It appears on the albums I recorded with that band and every record I’ve recorded with The Broken Bones.
Other gear in the shop includes:
- A 1967 Gibson Trini Lopez—”The second I saw [this guitar] I knew I was going to buy it,” said Lollar. “It’s a uniquely badass guitar. The neck profile and scale feels like a tele but the body is a 335, resulting in a feel and sound totally its own. I played this guitar every chance I got. It’s prominently featured on every St. Paul and the Broken Bones record.”
- A Sequential Prophet-6 Keyboard—“The band bought this synth during the Sea Of Noise recording sessions,” the group said. “It also appeared on Young Sick Camillia and Alien Coast and toured with us on those record cycles. Somehow, [it] remained in like-new condition.”
- A Custom Ludwig Legacy Maple Drum Set—”These drums were custom-made for Kevin Leon by Ludwig specifically for The Alien Coast tour in 2022,” the band said. “They sound amazing in live settings with some nice, rounded low end and plenty of attack and high end to cut through live situations. The design on the front bass drum head is from The Alien Coast album artwork and was also custom-made for that tour.”
- An Original Smokey Amplifier—”This is a really cool amp,” said Lollar. “I got it in Kansas City in 2009 and have been enamored with it ever since. Believe it or not, I’ve used this a lot in the studio over the years. It's a little beat up from living in my guitar case but hey, it's literally a box of cigarettes. Super vibey.”
- A Boss TU-3 Tuner Pedal—”This pedal and I have a long history,” said Lolalr. “I bought it new in 2009 when I was still in The 400 Unit, then I used it all through the early years of St. Paul. ‘400 Unit’ and ‘Stbb’ have been written in sharpie on the sides.”
