The Best-Selling Microphones of 2019

For the final installment of our yearly best-selling gear posts we're going to plug into some data on microphones. Below you'll find our rankings for the overall best-selling mics on Reverb, the best-selling vintage mics, and then a snapshot of the used mic market by brand.

The above rankings reflect total number of sales for both new and used mics on Reverb. In the mic category, our sales figures tend to be predominantly used and vintage, but a look at the rankings sorted by just sales for brand-new inventory show quite a similar breakdown.

In compiling these rankings, we're going on number of sales, which in some instances may actually include multiple microphones, such as matched pairs of various condensers. Additionally, in the vintage chart, we're combining some slight variations on certain vintage models such as the MD421, which was produced with multiple connector types.

For the vintage rankings, we're putting the year cut-off at 1990 and including mics from the '80s. It's a new decade next month, so why not.

Moving away from individual models, the table below shows the top brands on the used mic market on Reverb sorted by number of orders and total dollars spent.
