Zeppelin Design Labs is a small DIY outfit based out of Chicago that hatched from the brains of Brach and Glen. An audio projects designer and long-time project manager respectively, it should come as no surprise that their flagship product is a beautifully designed "project" kit.
Though they started off freelancing various audio products and designs, they grew to a fully-fledged manufacturer of their own gear in time. It’s obvious the guys at Zeppelin Design Labs care not only about their product but about the end user; they sell directly to buyers, both on their website and through Reverb. Zeppelin wants to reach right into the community, particularly the DIY audio crowd, and give their lovingly designed and crafted products straight to you.
With a particular passion for DIY audio (that’s how they got started, after all), Zeppelin Design Labs offers not only fully built products like guitar amplifiers but also DIY kits, so you can experience building gear of your own. Some of their more unique products include a kit to construct your own 2W mini tube amp that you can attach to whatever you like, be it cab, fish tank, or Altoid box. Their low-wattage Percolator amps (also available in DIY kit form) are great for electric guitar and even harmonica.
Born from the frustration of using poorly-designed products and the love of creating new products themselves, Zeppelin Design Labs wants to put you in control of your gear. As they’ve said, “they hope you enjoy building and using their products at least half as much as they enjoy developing them.”
