Rare Leedy Harpaphone / Orchestra Bells / Glockenspiel with resonators, made by Leedy Mfg. Co., Indianapolis, Ind., serial no. 10030. Probably late 1920s / circa 1930.
Incredible sound, very rich and well-balanced. This is a truly exceptional instrument.
Complete instrument: 30 chromatic bars, 2.5-octave range from G to C, integrated resonators, original wooden case with original handle, in very good condition for an instrument of around 100 years old.
Very good working condition: excellent tone, good intonation, no unwanted buzzing or rattling. Some light oxidation on a few bars, with no impact on the sound. Felts are slightly compressed, which is consistent with the age of the instrument.
A rare piece for a collector, percussionist, studio, orchestra, early music, jazz, or vintage percussion setup.
