Guitars with Brazilian rosewood are among the most sought-after vintage instruments out there, and this 1969 D35 definitely showcases the beauty and beautiful sound of this exotic wood!

The Martin D35 traces its origins back to 1965, when Martin swapped the two-piece back for a three-piece due to the too-small size of the available sections of Brazilian rosewood. Equipped with this distinctive feature, the D35 found a place between the iconic D28 and more decorated guitars like the D41 and D45.

With a dreadnought body, a soundboard of Brazilian rosewood and a top of Sitka spruce, the D35 is a guitar that feels familiar. The mahogany neck features a comfortable soft V-profile and is a joy to play. This dreadnought has a full and deep sound that shows its power when strumming.

This 1969 Martin D35 shows playing marks and weather checking to be expected on a vintage instrument. The body shows cracks in several places. Cracks in top lower bout and infamous pickguard crack, both repaired. And there are a few repaired cracks on the backside of the body. Furthermore, the bridge pins and bridge saddle have been replaced. The original bridge is included.

The neck was reset, and the back was refinished. The binding has a few cracks. A filled hole can also be found on the heel, a few centimetres from where a strap button is now mounted.

Overall, after a good service, the guitar is very clean, and still features the original Grover Rotomatic tuners. The guitar has a K&K Pure Mini element. 1969 was the last year Martin used Brasilian Rosewood, which makes this guitar a special find.
