This student viola da gamba comes from the Moeck workshops in Celle (Germany) and was made in 1955. It is a classic instrument from the “Gamba renaissance” of the 1950s and 1960s, featuring the typical tuning mechanisms and drilled fretboard.

The label is located inside the instrument on the two-piece back. The scroll is professionally crafted, and a device for attaching a spike is installed at the rear end of the instrument, allowing the viola da gamba to be played like a cello.

Length 107 cm, scale length 56 cm, nut width 40 mm, side height approx. 10 cm

The instrument is ready to play; the sound post is stable, and the bridge is well-positioned. Only the strings and, if necessary, the nylon frets will need to be replaced at some point. There are superficial signs of age and wear, as well as two professionally restored cracks in the back (with small wooden patches). The viola da gamba comes in its original faux leather case.
