Vintage Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi V2 “Ram’s Head” – 3003 Board / Motorola 2N5087
Beautiful vintage Electro-Harmonix V2 Big Muff Pi “Ram’s Head” in excellent cosmetic condition and perfect working order.
This particular example features the 3003 circuit board with Motorola 2N5087 transistors, making it an especially rare and interesting version of the classic 1970s Ram’s Head.
The V2 Ram’s Head is the generation of Big Muff most famously associated with David Gilmour and Pink Floyd. While Gilmour’s best-known Ram’s Head was an earlier circuit variant, this comes from the same legendary era of Big Muff production and delivers exactly the kind of huge, sustaining lead tones that made these pedals so desirable.
It sounds fantastic: thick and harmonically rich, with enormous sustain, a powerful low end and the characteristic singing quality of a great vintage Ram’s Head. There’s plenty of fuzz available, but notes remain surprisingly articulate and defined, particularly for lead work.
