Check out this amazing Dukoff D6 mouthpiece piece. It has great projection and pretty bright but still meaty. The baffle and the chamber are built high and deep which gives it a sound that's bright, clear, and concise. It is characterized by focused projection, a huge mixture of overtones, and deep rich color. The D chamber embodies the infamous "Dukoff" sound that really cuts through; ideal for solo playing, lead playing, or any situation where vou want to be heard. It's table, tip, and rails are all in great condition but could use a good rub with a silver rag.
Bobby Dukoff "Super Power Chamber" tenor saxophone D6 mouthpiece manufactured in Miami, Florida. Introduced in 1972, this legendary high-baffle design is highly prized by jazz, funk, and rock saxophonists for its distinct cutting edge, immense projection, and bright tone.
Key Characteristics & Material: These pieces were cast from a proprietary zinc/pewter alloy trade-named Silverite. Silverite is a soft metal, meaning vintage examples frequently show oxidation, surface scratches, or teeth indentations near the bite plate.
Internal Architecture: The defining feature of the "Super Power Chamber" is its aggressive high step baffle coupled with flat sidewalls and a relatively small, focused chamber. This structural design forces air through a tight clearance at high velocity, giving the player instant access to the altissimo register and maximum volume.
The "Miami" Era: Mouthpieces stamped with "Miami, Florida" represent the prime manufacturing era of Bobby Dukoff's workshop after his relocation from California. These vintage Miami originals generally command significantly higher market value than later production versions due to their hand-finished execution and superior playing responsiveness.
Famous Players: The signature piercing, robust sound of the Dukoff Miami D-chamber became globally recognized through the work of legendary contemporary players like David Sanborn (alto), Michael Brecker (tenor), and Boots Randolph (tenor).
