For sale or best offer is a vintage 1953 Fender 5B6 Bassman amplifier. This is a fantastic-sounding, player's grade amplifier. It has been lovingly rehabilitated inside and out.
It was at some point stripped of its tweed covering, and has since been refinished and structurally stabilized. Internally, it was rebuilt from the ground up using premium components, including SoZo coupling capacitors, CTS pots, carbon comp resistors in its signal path, and heat-stable resistors in its power sections. The original design of the 5B6 power was a bit crude and primitive, so it has been updated for better performance and filtering. Additionally, its heater wiring has been updated and a hum balance has been installed to lower its noise floor. It has a replaced PacTran power transformer, and its original output transformer that has been rewound to original spec and re-housed by Bryan Sours of Soursound Transformers. Its speaker is a modern reproduction 15" Jensen Alnico 5 PM, as it would have been originally. This is a killer amplifier. It's loud, punchy, clear, and attitude when pushed.
