The Ibanez DFL Digital Flanger was made in Japan and produced for a very short period, specifically from 1985 to 1986. It is considered a rare pedal due to its brief production run.

The Ibanez DFL Digital Flanger was the first flanger to use digital processing in a compact floor unit. The IDPC (Ibanez Digital Processing Conversion) system permits wideband, brighter flanging effects that were previously available only with rackmount digital processors. The DFL features an extra wide 8:1 sweep ratio for deeper, wide-ranging flanging effects.

This flanger can be heard throughout Rage Against The Machine‘s music catalog with guitarist Tom Morello, and can go from “plane takeoff” to “underwater” and unlimited other flanging tones, with an extremely powerful and wide-ranging set of controls. It's a very distinct sounding flanger that is unique to this pedal. It can self oscillate.

By turning the Regen (Regeneration) knob to its maximum setting, the pedal feeds enough delayed signal back into the input to create intense, rising oscillation.  This capability allows it to produce extreme, sci-fi "ray-gun" blasts and metallic, resonant textures in addition to standard flanging. The pedal's digital architecture and wide 8:1 sweep ratio make these oscillating sounds particularly bright, sharp, and aggressive compared to many analog counterparts. 

The controls are: Width, Speed, Regen, and D-Time full sweep knobs, as well as D-Mode 3 position switch knob that has S (0.5-4 ms), M (1-8 ms), and L (2-16 ms) settings

The Ibanez DFL Flanger requires a standard 9V power supply. It can be powered using a compatible AC adapter, making it convenient for both studio and stage use.
