Fantastic, highly sought after, fuzz driver pedal from the original EQD run back between 2008 and 2017. This pedal sounds absolutely wicked and so articulate, their increasingly rare status speaks for itself.
Here’s what Earthquaker say:
The Dirt Transmitter is one of the oldest circuits in the EarthQuaker lineup, originally inspired by the Fuzz Face. The idea started when Jamie Stillman discovered rare, low-gain silicon transistors that had a germanium-like warmth when overdriven, but also retained the aggressive bite of silicon fuzz. The combination of these transistors and the starved voltage Bias control creates a wide variety of textures, from smooth saturation to sputtery, gated fuzz.
Originally released in January 2008, the first Dirt Transmitters featured only three controls: Fuzz, Tone, and Level. Shortly after, Jamie added the external Bias control, which opened up the circuit and brought it to life. When the Bias is fully up, the pedal is properly biased, but rolling it back starves the voltage, producing a ripping velcro-like fuzz tone that gets grittier and more unpredictable as it's dialled down.
